Guerilla Kindness: July 4-18 2024
Create a small piece of art and place it in a public location for others to find and enjoy. It can have a positive or uplifting message if you like, or it can simply be a piece of art that brings a bit of joy into someone’s life when they stumble upon it.

I’m not sure how “artistic” this is, and some of these phrases come a bit close to the type of platitudes I usually try to avoid, but I still really enjoyed doing this.

My kids get really stressed about how hard International Baccalaureate is, IB Art included. To give them a little guerrilla kindness (and humor) at the start of the school year I designed and had these stickers printed to sneak in their back-to-school supplies.
Next Week’s Assignment:
T-shirt Design - This one is a two-parter.
Part One: Create your own design for a T-shirt you would wear, using whatever medium you like - marker, crayon, computer, whatever - and show how it would look on a shirt.
Part Two, inspired by a game I was introduced to recently: Quickly draw a picture of anything you like, the more random the better (a hot dog riding a unicycle, a rhino floating on a cloud, whatever). The drawing doesn’t have to be good at all, just fun. Then come up with a random short phrase - again, the more random the better (“Czechoslovakian Bingo Night,” “Clowns for Universal Healthcare,” whatever). Send both to me along with your other submission, and I will mix and match everyone’s drawings and phrases to come up with some unique (and hopefully funny) T-shirt designs.
