Sculpture from Unexpected Materials: October 13-20, 2022

The Mission:

Make a sculpture out of unexpected materials. Theme, style, size, complexity, etc. are all your choice, as long as the materials you use are not what we would expect to see the sculpture made from. (Yes, that sentence ended with a preposition. Poetic license is a form of art!)

The Submissions:

“Stewart” - by Journal Kurtz

This was going to be so many things, but it just ended up being “Stewart.”

“The Headless Horseman” - by Captain Quillard

[Milk Dud, Swedish Fish, Dot, Raisinet, Sour Patch Kid, Brach’s Pumpkin, and Junior Mint on coroplast]

Artist’s note: Looks like one of the raisinet hooves rolled into an unfortunate position. I was not trying to make an anatomically correct horse.

“Beef (cows). It’s what’s for dinner” - by Anonymous Frau Redux

Gotta go make tacos.
Adios!

Next Week’s Assignment:

I recently realized it’s probably been 25 years since I last carved a pumpkin. Let’s get our Halloween on and make jack-o’-lanterns this week. Get a pumpkin, scoop out its guts, carve it in any way you see fit, and light it up for a photo you can submit here.

Due October 27 by 7:00 p.m.
