Limericks: October 5-12, 2023

Write one to five limericks, using current events as the subject for each.

Due October 12 by 7:00 p.m.

The Submissions:

by Captain Quillard

McCarthy could not have been weaker
But the new prospects seem even bleaker
David Duke’s Scalise’s warden
And then there’s Gym Jordan
Might as well have a white sheet as speaker

For his lack of financial transparence
For posh trips and free rent for his parents
For attempts to repress
Both women and the press
It’s past time to investigate Clarence

Jimmy Carter and the Guinea Worms

Said the last one would die before he did
And, at 99, nearly succeeded
Now, through his persistence
There’s just six in existence
Hail to the Chief we all needed

Next Week’s Assignment:

Decorative Gourd Season, Part Deux
Paint or otherwise embellish a pumpkin or gourd (or several) to decorate for the season. Carving is okay, but discouraged - rather than create jack-o-lanterns, let’s make “intact” pumpkins into objects of art.

Due October 19 by 7:00 p.m.
