POV Sketches: 3 Moments in Time: September 15-22, 2022

The Mission:

Three times this week (most likely in three different places), stop what you’re doing and sketch the scene in front of you. Sketch with whatever you’ve got on whatever you’ve got - a napkin, a journal, whatever. Sketch as thoroughly and detailed or as quickly and “sketchy” as you like. Submit your three sketches, labeled with the date, time, and location where you were. Bonus points if you find some common theme among the three.

(We’re all busy, so if you don’t have time to sketch in the moment, that’s fine. You could take a photo to sketch from later or just do it from memory if you have to. Ideally, you’ll sketch “in situ,” but I’m a realist, so no worries if that’s too much!)

The Submissions:

by Captain Quillard

Outside the hotel I stayed in when I was in Indianapolis
Watching my friend play Jazz records at his first “DJ” gig at The Barrel House
Watching other friends present “Bringing a Dead Fish to Life: Photography Before Photoshop” at PechaKucha Night Dayton

(Originally thought my third one might be at the bar at The Century, in which case there may have been a loose “bottle” theme carrying through here. Alas, it’s a themeless submission this time.)

Next Week’s Assignment:

Diorama:
We’re going back to elementary school book reports this week! Grab those old shoe boxes and your crafting materials and create a diorama. For your topic, have your diorama depict a recent scene from your life. Or, if that’s too depressing, depict a scene of you enjoying life in a place you’d like to visit. If you feel like your scene needs explanation, feel free to send that along with the photo of your submission.

Due September 29 by 7:00 p.m.
