The Quiet World: July 25-August 1 2024

Our local art museum currently has an exhibit on Edward Hopper, highlighting his tendency to depict mundane, everyday life with a sense of loneliness or isolation. For this assignment, make art of your choice that shows a quiet, isolated, mundane part of everyday life.

The Submissions:

by Heart of Darkness

Walking… I much prefer the slow, mundane act of walking as opposed to driving and lately it seems to be the only time things are calm or quiet. As much as possible, I try to carve out time for a walk alone each day, but sometimes the Tiny Human comes along. Images captured on this week’s walking adventures.

Whatever disclaimer is needed: I do not own the rights to the song (Sir Paul McCartney “Another Day”), no intent make money using the audio, referenced for artistic purposes only.
That is my dog and my shadow in the video, walking near our neighborhood (almost daily).
It’s usually quiet unless we have tunes to accompany us.

Next Week’s Assignment:

This week marks the fifth anniversary of the mass shooting that occurred in Dayton, Ohio, as well as the dedication of a memorial to that event and those lost and affected by it. For this week’s assignment, write poetry or prose that serves as a memorial to someone you lost or others that have been lost or affected by an event.

Due August 8 by 7:00 p.m.
