Natural Materials: June 9-16, 2022

The Mission:

Make art using only natural materials. The materials and the type of art are up to you - Leaf collage? Rock sculpture? Painting with mud? Edible Arrangement? You choose.

The Submissions:

“Lake Erie Harmony” - by Journal Kurtz

My second piece was going to be Monet’s “Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies,” but as this took (a very Zen) 2 hours, I decided one piece would suffice.

“Live long and prosper” - by Anonymous Frau Redux

(Clipped/cutting using a John Deere ZTR.)

“Words Will Never Hurt Me” - by Captain Quillard

Next Week’s Assignment:

Cancel Culture:
Think of something relatively ubiquitous that you feel we should get rid of. Something that has run its course or never should’ve existed in the first place. Could be a high level concept (“Let’s cancel capitalism!”) or something minor (“Let’s stop saying ‘let’s circle back.’”), or even a common practice you’re sick of (cooking segments on talk shows never work). Make a piece of art (style and medium of your choice) that shows what you’d like to cancel. Bonus points if you include a statement on why you think it has to go.

Due June 23 by 7:00 p.m.
