Winter Playlist: January 9-16, 2025

We haven’t done music in a while, so for this week’s assignment, curate a winter playlist that captures the essence of your winter mood or just features favorites you like to listen to this time of year. Submit a link to your list via Spotify or other app, or just send the titles and artists for me to try to put together and share with the group.

The Submissions:

by Captain Quillard

by The Kilsigliere

by Anonymous Frau Redux

For a pick me up on cloudy days:
“That’s Life” Frank Sinatra
“Make your own kind of music” Cass Elliot
“Never gonna give you up” Rick Astley
“Walking on Sunshine” Katrina and the Waves
“Just Like Fire” p!nk
“Mr. Blue Sky” ELO
“The Rubberband Man” The Spinners

Holiday/seasonal list:
“Winter Time” Steve Miller Band
“California Dreamin’” The Mamas and the Papas or Bobby Womack or José Feliciano
“Hazy Shade of Winter” Simon and Garfunkel or the Bangles
“Snowfall” Henry Mancini
“Snowfall Cha-Cha” George Shearing
“Have yourself a merry little Christmas” Judy Garland (for some cheeky Judy look up the song “I don’t care”)
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” Andy Williams

Holiday Album recommendations:
“Barenaked for the Holidays” Barenaked Ladies
The “ELF” soundtrack
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” Vince Guaraldi Trio
“Christmas Cocktails”
“Christmas Cocktails Part Two”
“Best of Christmas Cocktails”
“Ella wishes you a swinging Christmas” Ella Fitzgerald
“Merry Christmas” Johnny Mathis

(With the exception of the Barenaked Ladies- my music choices indicate I have an older soul. And “I don’t care!” per Judy)

Last addendum:

“A Taste of Honey” by Herb Alpert and the Tianuana Brass- makes me wish I played some bold brass instrument.
