Dia de los Muertos: October 26-November 2, 2023

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos by crafting either a nicho, a calavera, an ofrenda, or all three, using whatever materials you like.

The Submissions:

by The Kisigliere

A nicho to honor one of my favorite poets, Louise Gluck.

by Journal Kurtz

Within four months of each other, two of my closest friends left this world and took a part of me that only they could coax out.

What to say about a man who folded 100 paper flowers for our wedding and once stayed to hear an unknown author read at a bookstore because “he looked like he needed an audience?”

What to say about a woman who saw the poet in me before I had ever put pen to paper?

Both ever-willing to indulge any spontaneous adventure we could dream up.

At center, a sympathy card from one about the other. Her signature nearly a scrawl as the brain cancer took her ability to write. The only card I received about either loss.
