Creative Squiggles: August 4-11, 2022

The Mission:

This is from a test I was given in elementary school. I didn’t know it at the time (or even before today), but apparently it’s called the “Torrence Test of Creative Thinking.”

Have someone draw four random shapes for you - nothing complicated - a squiggle, a simple shape, a series of lines, etc. Take those shapes and turn them into four drawings, incorporating the original shape into each of the drawings.

Next Week’s Assignment:

Pick an existing work of art (a favorite from a famous artist, or just one you’ve seen and like - painting, sculpture, whatever) and attempt to recreate it yourself. Doesn’t matter how good or bad your result is, or how faithful to the original it looks - just mimic it in whatever way you like, using whatever medium you choose. Bonus points if you use interesting or unusual materials to create your piece.

Due August 25 by 7:00 p.m.
