Illuminated Manuscript: March 14-28, 2024
In a sort-of nod to St. Patrick’s Day, create an illuminated manuscript. Either use your own writing or take a page of plain text from a book, magazine, or elsewhere, and decorate it with flourishes, borders, and other designs, Medieval-looking or not.

Some of this art challenge is quite literal, some natural elements here and there, as well as pop culture emoji thrown in for funsies. Are those rocks or poop? I’m not sure myself!

A little experiment based on Paul Laurence Dunbar’s “The Madrigal.”
Happy Opening Day!

A first attempt at doing this with crayon failed miserably. So, here’s this instead.
Next Week’s Assignment:
Create your own pysanky eggs with wax and dyes. If buying beeswax and kistkas is too much, use crayons. If pysanky feels too complicated, dye eggs in whatever way you like - make your own dyes, use the Paas kits from our childhood, or whatever works for you. Basically, decorate some eggs. :)
